Received advice for a decade necessarily twice a week, why twice a week? Because, he was running walk-in OPD’s on every Tuesday and Saturday but on call/duty for 24/7/365 days. Dear Sir, Not a day goes by when you are not loved and missed. Held in our hearts and you will be remembered forever. In SPARSH, he knew only one name for all the Non-medical problems fortunately it’s me. I am blessed to interact with such a charming personality for a decade, who had transformed countless lives miraculously by saving their Limbs. There are no words to express my grief. I had the privilege and opportunity of knowing Dr. Ashok Kaul since year 2000. As a young Plastic Surgeon, i found him very dynamic, innovative and versatile in his plastic surgical craft, especially microsurgery. He would present new ideas and techniques with a clarity that only a person who is a master of his subject could do. Complex microsurgical reconstructions were a cake-walk for him and his planning and execution par excellence. He would very magnanimously share his work and ideas. His edited videos were a class apart and conveyed the technique in a very lucid and simple way. He was always willing to travel and teach and share at his own expense. Over the years, we developed a strong friendship and shared a lot during the years. A very modest man destined for much more, but cruel fate had other ideas. He was a friend, guide and a mentor to a lot of us. There will always be a void which will be very difficult to fill. I will always remain your admirer. Cheers to you

I have known dr ashok and dr asha since time of PG training at medical trust hospital cochin2004 to 2005. Dr ashok was class apart way way ahead and different thinking towards managing complex problems compared to all other surgical colleagues. Some of distinguished qualities are abilty to think different from rest and not to get worried about failure or thinking of consequences.Apart from his extraordinary surgical skills.,he also possessed the ability to make good rapport with his surgical colleagues and other team members I had privilege of providing anaesthesia and perioperative care for most of dr ashoks challenging and complex case during his tenure at Sparsh hospital He was committed towards ensuring that patient gets best of treatment irrespective of complexity of patients clinical condition I was extremely saddened and shocked on hearing his tragic death.A huge loss for entire surgical community his patients and medical fraternity..I pray God to give extra courage and strength to Dr asha, kids and her family members to handle tough situation arising out of his tragic demise

Director & Consultant Plqstic Surgeon, Bembde Hospital, Aurangabad, Maharashtra

I first met Ashok Sir at Sparsh Hospital at Theater number 3, while he was performing a complex reconstructive surgery, I was standing as a trainee floor nurse, he asked senior surgical assistants to to take photos during surgery. Nobody was there to capture the images, when I was trying to take photo, I found that camera was not responding, I replied him "camera is not working properly, he replied to me in a louder voice "It is working regularly". Thereafter, I worked under him as a surgical nurse assistant for almost three years. He took me to Brachial CON, evening get together parties. I have greatest freedom to discuss anything during surgeries topics like Kerala, Politics, Development and career plans. When I visited him at Sparsh Hospital after my successful Harvard trip on 2016 September,.At theater number 4, Dr Sharanu Patil( Director Medical Services, Sparsh Hospita)l asked me to join Sparsh Hospital, Ashok Sir replied him " You need to pay him Dollars" now He is a Harvard Fellow. Again, we had great humor and loved moments. He was a great teacher, educator, surgeon- researcher and great friend for all theater staffs. Indeed its a loss for our country and humanity.

DR ASHOK RAJ KOUL “ Naam tera zubaan per hoga Jab bhi koi khalish jawaan hogi” (Tanha) Dr Ashok Raj Koul was always a cheerful person. He encouraged his patients to speak. He was an amiable and warm individual who relished both his profession and life. The well being of patients was always in his mind. As a doctor he always found ways and means to help the patients in recovering from his ailments. He sought maximum pleasure in reducing pain of his patients. He always had a positive approach. He was not driven by any personal motive to seek personal gains but rather compelled to overcome the illusions that beset us. He was driven by a passion or vision of service to the humanity. Dr Ashok Raj Koul unplugged his candour, wit and humorously speech with the patients put them at ease. He was always cheerful. I wholeheartedly believe that Dr Ashok Raj Koul always had an open mind and had an understanding and acceptance of persons around him.He was good natured. He almost made light of every situation. He was soft spoken and had the ability to hid cleverly behind words, revealing very little about himself and the struggles he had to face. His practicability, candour and sense of humour – those are his strong points. We feel fortunate and proud to have found Dr Ashok Raj Koul a charming and successful son-in-law. We found him without trace of fatigue and stress. He was an attentive listener and easy to talk to. He had a smiling face. He was not afraid of challenges of life. He was a work alcoholic and enjoyed his work. He was continuously at work and was always scaling the new heights. He was always a critical thinker and had high expectations of himself. He easily could fit in a team and had high expectations from his team mates also. It was important for him to carve out time to spend quality time with his children. He used to sit down with his children and talk about important dates and evens, whether that is school work , play, concert or some other activity. He struggled, strived and succeeded in reaching the desired heights during the short span of his life. While I admire and respect God, I felt inadequate, intimidated and even afraid to say that a promising life has been snatched from the humanity. When a close relative is suddenly snatched by death, you are saddened, shocked hurled deep into silence. Dr Ashok Raj Koul was not only an extraordinary doctor, but also a great human being. ‘Zinda hai tun Dr Ashok, zinda hi rahega.’

"I thank Dr Ashok Koul sir (and his team Praveen sir, Sushil sir, Beena mam, Subhash sir, and Venkatesh Rao sir, Sharan patel sir, sisters and brothers) who treated me nearly for 60-70 days to become normal person and to lead my life as how I was before. I met Ashok sir in an unfortunate circumstance in 2011; I had met with an accident and my left leg fully burst open and lost almost all muscles. I was brought to sparsh hospital; my parents and friends thought that I was no more to them. I was admitted to hospital and Dr. Ashok sir and his team took up the challenge to save me and my leg as much as possible. I have not met any good doctor like Ashok sir before in my life. With his talent and work I was saved. After I was discharged from the hospital while taking rest at home, my parents used to speak about him to my relatives and friends about him and how such good doctor if not taken up my case, no other specialist could do better in the condition I was in. While listening to these, I realized at what a bad condition I went in to the hospital. I was going for check up once every 15 days and Dr Ashok and his team would talk me as a family member. Never he treated me as a patient. Such a good person I met in my life. And he used to show my case to some of his colleagues in hospital and ask them questions on how we can do better to me. Eventhough he is the Chief surgeon he used to ask for any better ideas with is team without any ego. Now am okay with my condition I am doing my work myself and am going to college as before. Sorry to hear the bad news. Me and my family miss you so much, and you are in my family's hearts .."
